Sheriff Ian Parkinson to Address ICE, Crime, and the Real Challenges Facing Law Enforcement

Mark your calendars. On Monday, August 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., the San Luis Obispo County Tea Party welcomes Sheriff Ian Parkinson to the Atascadero Republican Headquarters for a timely and important discussion.

Sheriff Parkinson will speak candidly about ICE operations, crime trends across San Luis Obispo County, and the growing obstacles that modern policing faces in today’s political climate. As the long-serving Sheriff of our county, he brings firsthand experience from the front lines—experience that rarely gets an unfiltered public airing.

In recent years, local law enforcement has navigated shifting state policies, federal immigration enforcement, public safety priorities, and intense political pressure. Parkinson will address how these forces affect deputies on the street, the safety of our communities, and the practical realities of keeping San Luis Obispo County secure.

This is not a partisan talking-points session. It is a chance to hear directly from the elected official responsible for public safety across the unincorporated areas of our county—someone who has led the Sheriff’s Office through multiple terms and significant challenges.

Whether you are concerned about crime, immigration enforcement, the ability of local agencies to do their jobs, or simply want clear information instead of media spin, this meeting is for you.

Join us Monday, August 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Atascadero Republican Headquarters, 7357 El Camino Real. Doors open for fellowship and conversation beforehand. Bring your questions. Bring a neighbor.

We look forward to seeing you there.
